Pineapple Express

Hi there again, it's been a while since I posted.
This time I'll do things a bit differently,  instead of posting a deck I will be posting more of a guide on how to build it yourself.

The deck in question is Pineapple Express which I got from the forum Duelistgroundz.
It is basically a plant cat deck with the new Naturia cards from DREV, Pineapple & Bamboo Shoot.

Naturia Bamboo Shoot
*****
Earth/Plant/Effect
2000/2000
If this card is Tribute Summoned by tributing a "Naturia" monster, while this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap Cards.

Naturia Pineapple
**
Earth/Plant/Effect
100/100

All face-up monsters you control are treated as Plant-Type. If this card is in your Graveyard during your Standby Phase, and you control no Spell or Trap Cards, you can Special Summon this card. This effect cannot be activated if you control a face-up "Naturia Pineapple" or if there are any monsters in your Graveyard that are not Plant or Beast-Type.

With that out of the way, now for cards & numbers.

First we have the beasts:
1x Rescue Cat
Well it's a synchro cat deck at its core.

2-3x Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
It's a beast, mills your Pineapples and is a all-around good card.

1x Snyffus
It's a plant & beast deck, we can't go without this fellow.

2-3x X-Saber Airbellum
Level 3 beast tuner for zee cat, solid effect.

1-3x Super-Nimble Mega Hamster
Creates field advantage, searches for Ryko or a tuner for synchro summoning the next turn.

Then we have the plants:
2-3x Naturia Pineapple
The name giver of the deck. Pretty much works like a Treeborn Frog.

2-3x Naturia Bamboo Shoot
With enough protection this card can be a game winner but don't focus to much on it.

2x Lonefire Blossom
Since we want to get to our Pineapples to be live as soon as possible, this is a natural inclusion.

1-2x Dandylion
With all the milling, discarding, synching, ect. the deck does, this card and its tokens can come quite in handy.

1x Spore
The best plant tuner available in the tcg.

1x Tytannial, Princess of Camellias
With Pineapple, Lonefire and Dandylion this card is a auto-inclusion. Even tribute summoning this gal shouldn't be a problem.

Thats it for the monster lineup, now for the spells and traps:
2-3x Enemy Controller
With Pineapples/Dandylions effect and 5 tuners in the maindeck this is pretty much a staple.

2-3x Pot of Avarice
With all the milling and cat abuse this card can be live quite soon in the game. Personally I would run 2.

1x Foolish Burial
We want our Pineapples & Dandylions in the grave.

0-1x Cold Wave
Helps with big pushes.

1x Brain & Mind Control each
5 tuners + pot of avarice.

2x PWWB /or Raigeki Break
Same as Foolish Burial and protects Bamboo Shoot.

The rest should be filled with staples and personal tech choices.

Tech examples:
Behemoth the King of All Animals
Tribute Pineapple and/or Fluff token(s) and get back Rescue Cat from the grave.

XX-Saber Darksoul
Enables you to run XX-Saber Hyunlei in your extra deck.

Treeborn Frog
You just summon it before the Pineapple. Makes tribute summoning Tytannial easier.

Cactus Bouncer
Good for locking down your opponent even further after you've set up Bamboo Shoot or Naturia Beast.

Pollinosis
With Pineapples and Dandylions effect this pretty much becomes a free solemn. Also great for protecting Bamboo Shoot.

Divine Warning
More protection.

Royal Oppression
Same as Cactus Bouncer.

Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Tribute Pineapple, summon zee cat!!!

As far as the extra deck goes only Naturia Beast is mandatory the rest should be filled up with staples and plant/beast type synchros like Voltic Bicorn or Splendid Rose.

Naturia Beast
*****
Earth/Beast/Synchro/Effect
2200/1700
1 EARTH Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner EARTH monsters
While this card is face-up on the field, you can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard to negate the activation of a Spell Card and destroy it.

Ways to summon Naturia Beast in this deck:
  • Naturia Pineapple + X-Saber Airbellum
  • Super-Nimble Mega Hamster+Synffus

This is all for today, I hope it was as interesting to read as it was to write.

A Starlit Road to the Colosseum

So with Starlight Road finnaly being in the TCG, I've decided to build a deck using it.
So the best deck to use it is ofcourse a control deck, in this meta that would be Gadgets and Gladiator Beast.
Before I show you my deck lets first look at Starlight Road for a bit.

Starlight Road
Activate only when an effect is activated that would destroy 2 or more cards you controlNegate the effect and destroy that card. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Stardust Dragon" from your Extra Deck.

Pros:
  • It is atleast a +1 (depending on the card it negates).
  • Protects you from mass removal card like Heavy Storm or Judgement Dragon.
  • Makes your opponent think twice before they use mass removal cards (playing around it makes them waste more resources).
Cons:
  • It is a normal trap and not a counter trap (can be negated by cards like Royal Opression or My Body as a Shield)
  • Can't do anything against single removal cards (like Smashing Ground or Mystical Space Typhoon).
  • The summoned Stardust Dragon can't be revived once its sent to the graveyard (including by its effect).

With that out our way lets continue with the deck I made.
I decided to go with GBs because I'm more familiar with that deck type.

Monsters: 17
1x Cyber Dragon
1x Elemental Hero Prisma
1x Gladiator Beast Bestiari
1x Gladiator Beast Darius
2x Gladiator Beast Equeste
1x Gladiator Beast Hoplomus
2x Gladiator Beast Laquari
1x Gladiator Beast Murmillo
1x Gladiator Beast Retiari
2x Gladiator Beast Samnite
1x Rescue Cat
2x Test Tiger
1x X-Saber Airbellum

I only run 2 Test Tigers because I've found out (trought testing) that unless you run the full prisma engine (2 prisma, 1 stratos) they become a horrible top deck.
X-Saber Airbellum is run in here because it increases the versatility of both rescue cat and the deck in general (Combos pretty nice with Cyber Dragon).
For those of you who want to run Secutor you can drop Retiari for him.

Spells: 7
2x Book of Moon
1x Cold Wave
2x Gladiator Proving Ground
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon

Traps: 16
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Dimensional Prison
2x Gladiator Beast War Chariot
2x Dust Tornado
2x Compulsory Evacuation Device
1x Solemn Judgment
2x Starlight Road
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Waboku

Due to the small number of Gladiator Beasts in the main deck I preffer to only run 2 of Gladiator Beast War Chariot, more of them would cause dead draws.
The number of Wabokus can be droped if you need the space for additional cards.

Extra Deck:
2x Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
2x Gladiator Beast Gyzarus
2x Gladiator Beast Heraklinos
1x Ally of Justice Catastor
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1x Colossal Fighter
1x Goyo Guardian
2x Stardust Dragon
1x Thought Ruler Archfiend
1x Mist Worm

Do take note that depending on your main deck choices and also on your meta the side deck must change accordingly.
These are some of the card I would advise to be used in the side deck:
  • My Body as a Shield -> Against decks that use lots of single card removal like Gadgets.
  • Nobleman of Crossout -> Against Flamvell Cat decks (and other flip centric decks)
  • Light-Imprissioning Mirror -> Against LightSworn and their variants.
  • Dust Tornado -> For game 2/3 to counter their sided cards or decks that also run starlight road.
  • Mind Control -> Mirror match (also Brain Control if you don't main it).
  • Consecrated Light -> Against BlackWings and other Dark centric decks.
  • Pulling The Rug -> Against Monarch & Gadget decks.

Cat on a hot tin roof

Hi there,
I know that I am talking to myself you have been waiting for a new post.
The reason why I didn't post for shuch a long time is not because *inset random bullshit other bloggers tell you* but because I was to lazy.

A few random notes:
* I'm kind of late with this but welcome to the new format.
* I mostly like the new list except for JD still at 2 and mezuki at 1.
* Creative decks like Thunderpants Special make me happy.

Today the fetured deck is Flamvell Cat. For those that don't know it is a basic Rescue Cat deck combined with a Flamvell engine (usally 3 Flamvell Firedog, 3 Flamvell Magician and 2 Rekindling).

FlamCat
Monsters: 20
3x Flamvell Firedog
3x Flamvell Magician
1x Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1x Gravekeeper's Guard
2x Gravekeeper's Spy
1x Neo-Spacian Dark Panther
1x Rescue Cat
2x Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
1x Sangan
1x Super-Nimble Mega Hamster
1x Summoner Monk
3x X-Saber Airbellum

I chose to run Gravekeeper's over additional Hamsters because of the versatility they bring. This also allows me to synchro summon Arcanite Magician more frequently.

While Neo-Spacian Dark Panther gives me access to instant level 6 synchros and the ocasional effect copy.

Spells: 13
1x Allure of Darkness
2x Book of Moon
1x Brain Control
1x Cold Wave
1x Gold Sarcophagus
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mind Control
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Pot of Avarice
2x Pureflame Eruption

To minimize hand clutter Pureflame Eruption is played at 2 instead of 3. One Allure of Darkness is also played due to the dark count of this deck (you can replace it for a second copy of Gold Sarcophagus).

Traps: 7
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Dimensional Prison
1x Mirror Force
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Torrential Tribute

On top of the basic trap lineup I chose to run 2 Dimensional Prisons because of the decks large amount of weak monsters (Firedog being the only beatstick). For those who don't like Prison, they can take them out for card like Royal Oppression or Trap Dustshoot.

Extra Deck:
1x Ally of Justice Catastor
2x Arcanite Magician
1x *random lvl 7 synchro*
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
2x Colossal Fighter
1x Goyo Guardian
1x Magical Android
1x Red Dragon Archfiend
2x Stardust Dragon
1x Thought Ruler Archfiend
1x Mist Wurm  (Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Boundary for OCG)
